Biography
Irish mezzo-soprano Eilís Dexter is currently based in Switzerland pursuing her masters degree with Sarah Wegener at Zurich University of the Arts. In March 2026 Eilís will perform the role of Ruggiero in a production of Handel's Alcina in March 2026 at the Immersive Arts Space at ZHdK in Zürich. Eilís recently performed the role of Flora in Jonathan Dove's 'The Enchanted Pig' with Ahimè Opera in Basel and the lead role in the contemporary opera 'Drift' by Philipp Rhein with ZHdK Opera.
Last season, Eilís sang Dido in Purcell's 'Dido and Aeneas' in Dublin and various roles in 'The Fairy Queen' with the London Handel Players and the Croatian Baroque Ensemble. Eilís recently performed Elgar's 'The Music Makers' with the Dublin County Choir and was the alto soloist in Bach's Christmas Oratorio with Peter Kooij at the Trimontiada Festival in Bulgaria.
Eilís has worked with renowned orchestras such as the Irish Baroque Orchestra, London Handel Players and Akademie für Alte Musik Berlin. She has worked with Irish National Opera, Opera Collective Ireland, Blackwater Valley Opera Festival and regularly sings with leading Irish ensembles Chamber Choir Ireland and Resurgam.
